Consciousness Towards Light
In een poging om de subtiele vibraties van de bloemen vast te leggen met de camera, bleek de Zonnebloem mijn grootste uitdaging. Het was moeilijk om troost en vrede te vinden in het uitbundige geel van die intimiderende bloem. Wat miste ik? Waarom kon ik haar innerlijke schoonheid niet vastleggen? Op zoek naar houvast wendde ik me tot de brieven van Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) omdat hij de hoop en schoonheid van de zonnebloem herkende.
Sarah: "Hoe gelukkig was je? Ik neem me voor om alles te leren wat er over je te weten valt, om een kijkje te nemen in jouw ziel. En weet zeker dat ik daarbij net zoveel over mezelf zal leren als over jou. Je biografie vertelt me dat je pech had in de liefde. Was dat waarom je van Keats hield? Niet dat ik erg goed ben als profiler, maar tussen de regels van je schrijven lees ik passie, en vooral het verlangen om het te delen. Het zou je plezier doen om te horen wat er van je werk is geworden: het raakt en inspireert ontelbare zielen over de hele wereld, al meer dan 125 jaar."

Kunstwerk: CONSCIOUSNESS TOWARDS LIGHT
In an attempt to capture the subtle vibrations of the flowers with my camera, the sunflower proved to be my greatest challenge. It was difficult to find comfort and peace in the exuberant yellow of that intimidating flower. What was I missing? Why couldn't I capture its inner beauty? In search of guidance, I turned to the letters of Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) because he recognised the hope and beauty of the sunflower.
Sarah: "How happy were you? I intend to learn everything there is to know about you, to take a look into your soul. And I am sure that in doing so, I will learn as much about myself as I will about you. Your biography tells me that you were unlucky in love. Was that why you loved Keats? Not that I'm very good at profiling, but between the lines of your writing I read passion, and above all the desire to share it. You would be pleased to hear what has become of your work: it has touched and inspired countless souls around the world for more than 125 years."
